News from a First Year Corps Member

My name is Eric Bablinskas.  I served with the Deaconess Anne House in St. Louis from 2013-2014. I was part of the inaugural year of the program. While there, I worked with the Old North St. Louis Restoration Group as the Faith and Community Intern and the Farmers' Market Coordinator. 
Now, I am finishing up my year of service with the Washington Service Corps in Bellingham, WA as a Food Educator for Common Threads Farm. I teach students, K-8, how to fall in love with healthy eating in the garden, in the classroom, and at home. My hope is to continue working in food justice or to become a middle school social studies teacher. My time in ESC taught me how to be of service to others and how to strive to become an integral part of my greater community, working for the good of all people, especially the forgotten. My time serving as the Farmers' market coordinator at ONSLRG has led me to pursue food justice for under-served people, especially children.
